Phil Ivey became popular when poker became popular and he remains one of the most popular poker players out there. Phil was born in 1976 and learned how to play the game of poker from his grandfather. Right away everyone knew that Phil would make a great gambler and he continued learning the game by playing with family and friends.
When Ivey turned eighteen he took off for Atlantic City where he played poker using a fake ID. He didn’t fare so well in the beginning, but he was gaining valuable experience which he uses all the time now. Once he turned twenty-one he was allowed to play in any casino with his own ID.
Phil isn’t only a Texas Holdem player either he has managed to become one of the best in other poker games as well like Omaha. In fact he was bracelets in these variations as well and this is one of the reasons why he is arguably the best all around poker player out there.
The year 2000 was the year that Ivey had his big break as a pro poker player winning a bracelet and making another final table appearance. He continues that success since and has amassed a nice collection of winnings and bracelets. Everyone calls Ivey the “Tiger Woods of Golf” because he is the best at the game just like Tiger is at golf, and they do have a lot of similarities.
Ivey is apart of the Full Tilt Poker team which has many pro poker players playing in there poker room. He has been frequenting the poker rooms lately online and has been able to win huge amounts of money the past few months. In the past couple years Ivey has been able to make millions of dollars playing online poker and he has been posting record months lately with millions in profit in single months. He has won more money online then anyone else in poker and it goes to show that he can not only master live poker, but also online poker.
Phil has been able to become one of the best poker players out there because he can read people like a book and he has an amazing memory of things. He also has an aggressive playing style, but knows exactly when to slow it down which makes him nearly impossible to read when playing against him.
